Mini recalls various S and JCW models for fire risk
Jan 18, 2012 Mini is recalling all Mini models with the 1.6 Turbo engine (2007-2011 MYs) for a risk of sudden fire. They say that a water pump cooler controller for the turbocharger could malfunction and allow fire to suddenly burst in the engine bay without warning.
All models from 2007-2011 with the “S” designation including John Cooper Works variants are affected. Owners should go to their dealer for the fix immediately. BMW is only going to be notifying owners by February, so it would be wise to get your car fixed as soon as possible.
