Subaru claims top 6 positions at 2010 Rallye Baie des Chaleurs

Subaru proved once again that it's a force to be reckoned with when it comes to rally racing as the top 6 entrants at the 2010 Rallye Baie des Chaleurs all piloted Subaru models.

Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Patrick Richard and co-driver Alan Ockwell took the top spot in their WRX STI despite rolling the car less than 5km from the finish.

"It's embarrassing to admit but I lost concentration, clipped the inside of a corner and rolled the car-fortunately the Impreza ended up on its wheels," said Richard. "The car is a mess-it's a real tribute to Subaru toughness that we were able to finish the race at all."

In an interesting turn of events, Antoine L’Estage and Nathalie Richard, who drive and co-drive the 2009 Mitsubishi EVO supported by Mitsubishi Canada, were forced to leave their EVO aside due to mechanical problems. Instead they drove a Subaru provided by Leo Urlichich, who himself finished 2nd in the event. L’Estage and Richard finished 6th.

"The last stage we finally had a good run, and I drove like mad," said L'Estage. "Unfortunately, it was not enough to make up for the time already lost. I have to thank Leo though. Without him, we would not even have been able to run at all."
