Honda Canada introducing Electric Vehicle and Plug-In Hybrid in 2012

Early this week, Honda Motor Corporation showed off their plans for an electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid. Yesterday, Honda Canada announced plans to introduce these environmentally friendly vehicles to the Canadian market in 2012.

"We intend to bring these two types of vehicles to Canada to give us an opportunity to evaluate our new technology in Canadian conditions, including consideration of partnerships which could offer further benefits to our customers," said Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President of Honda Canada.

In addition to electric and plug-in hybrids, Honda is also studying a wide range of other technologies. These include hydrogen fuel cells, clean diesel technology and development of advanced hybrid technology. "For years, Honda has taken a portfolio approach to researching and developing optimum solutions for fuel-efficient and low-emission vehicles by studying a wide range of technologies” said Chenkin.

Keep your eye on future concepts from Honda for a hint on the styling direction of these new green vehicles.
