Scion to unveil two new vehicles at New York Auto Show!

While Scion is launching in Canada later this year, in America Scion has existed since 2003 with three vehicles (xB, xD, tC,). Soon Scion will have a fourth vehicle in showrooms.

Bloomberg Business week interviewed Don Esmond, senior vice president of Toyota’s U.S sales about sales recovery after the recall. Don Esmond stated the following. "Toyota will display new Scion models, the iQ and the tC, at the New York International Auto Show next month." These vehicles will help generate traffic into Toyota showrooms, after the massive recall in Januray.

The Scion iQ is expected to be based on the iQ concept vehicle, shown at last year New York Show. No word on power-trains, but I am expecting they will be similar to the European Toyota iQ. The European model features a small 1.3 liter 4 cylinder producing 93hp. Autoblog reported back in January that the iQ will come in two varieties, a three door hatch as well as a five door hatch.

Limited information is available about the redesigned Scion tC. I am expecting the tC to share the updated European Toyota Avensis platform, as well as be powered by the Camry’s 2.5 liter inline 4 cylinder. Styling might draw upon the Fuse concept vehicle, previewed at last year Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
