Lexus developing next generation IS Wagon?

Like many of the contributors to AutoNorth, I am also a big fan of wagons. One of my favorite wagons in the past has been the slow selling Lexus IS 300 Sport Cross. When Lexus introduced the current generation IS series in 2006 the Sport Cross wagon was dropped, due to slow sales.

Rumours have it that the IS Sport Cross might be making a comeback. Click through to find out more.

With the next generation IS due in 2011, British magazine AutoCar is reporting that Lexus will likely introduce a wagon version of the IS. AutoCar stated the following, “Lexus insiders now admit that this policy has hurt sales of the car in Europe, where it must face the 3-series Touring and A4 Avant.”

Lexus is pushing hybrid technology in Europe and is expected to continue with this next generation IS wagon, only being offered in hybrid forum.

No word yet if the IS wagon will come to North America. One can only hope....
