2011 Sonata Turbo priced from $28,999 in Canada

The much anticpated Sonata 2.0T, with a 2.0L direct-injected, twin-scroll turbocharged engine is right around the corner and will start at $28,999 in Canada.

The Sonata 2.0T is something, when you figure it, produces more horsepower than a Honda Accord V6 (274hp vs. 271hp), more torque than a Nissan Maxima (269lb/ft. vs. 261 lb/ft.) yet it gets better highway fuel mileage than a Toyota Corolla XRS.

But enthusiasts may still be disappointed.

Unfortunately the Sonata 2.0T is exclusively mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission as no manual will be offered. But lets face it, enthusiasts and actual buyers are often two different groups.

A Limited Package with dual-zone climate control, leather seating surfaces, class-exclusive heated rear seats and an optional navigation system is available for an additional $2,750.

Would you consider a Sonata 2.0T?

At this point, the only reason for me to consider the Sonata 2.0T is if my fiancee continues to not learn to drive stick. Otherwise, I'd be more likely to end up in a more basic Sonata. Or a 2011 Kizashi, or a Subaru Legacy, or a Mazda6...

But I'm not a real buyer, not at this point.

not a buyer for this segment of the market, but if I was I would lean more towards the Kia Optima with this engine which I consider a much better looking vehicle

Yes, the Kia Optima looks so much better than the Sonata, and is built on the same platform, with the same mechanicals. Fast your eyes:

Yes I would. But I would also consider the Kia.
