Toyota hybrids could be built in Canada
Jan 12, 2010
If demand for hybrid vehicles continues to grow Toyota could allocate some hybrid production to Canada.
Stephen Beatty, Toyota Canada's managing director said in a telephone interview with The Canadian Free Press that the company has said for a long time that there is no reason why they could not be built in Canada.
But that's not the only production news from Toyota Canada.
Toyota Canada plans to boost Canadian production from 319,000 vehicles in 2009 to 400,000 vehicles in 2010. "I think our Canadian operations are very competitive and have proven themselves. I think that bodes well for the future," Beatty said.
Here's an interesting fact: According to Toyota Canada they sell more Canadian-made vehicles in Canada than any other automaker.
