Contract workers at Honda's Alliston, ON plant get the boot

Last week Honda Canada quietly bought out all contracts with contracted workers at their two plants in Alliston, On. Although Honda Canada never made a public announcement, the Barrie Advance, a local newspaper, was informed, likely from some upset workers.

Alliston, Ontario is home to the Honda Civic and Acura MDX.

January 29th was the last day of work for contract workers at Plant #2, while February 26th is the last day for contract workers at Plant #1.

We've posted various stories lately about Honda Canada's efforts to cut output at their Alliston, Ontario facility (click here, here and our favourite here).

Whenever auto production is cut, contract workers are almost always the first to go.
