Transport Canada issues latest recalls

mapleleaf.jpgTransport Canada has released its latest recalls, which may affect some Chrysler, General Motors, Audi and Volkswagen vehicles.

2007-2008 Chrysler Sebring & 2007-2008 Dodge Avenger
Vehicles affected: 14,700

On certain vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), unused electrical connectors for a second type of TPMS may become corroded and could short-circuit. This could cause a variety of conditions, including engine no-start, dead battery, inoperative cruise control or remote start system, or engine stalling. Dealers will remove the unused TPMS connectors and protect their circuits.

1999-2005 Volkswagen Passat & 1999-2005 Volkswagen Passat 4Motion
Vehicles affected: 22,000

On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, an underbody heat shield may become damaged. If this occurs, the heat shield may contact the exhaust system, which could result in a vehicle fire. In addition, the affected vehicles may have a fuel line (1.8T engine) or fuel tank ventilation valve (all-wheel drive vehicles) that may leak due to fracture. Dealers will affect repairs.

2001-2004 Audi A6 Quattro & 2001-2005 Audi Allroad Quattro
Vehicles affected: 3,599

On certain vehicles, aging of the plastic material in the fuel tank rollover valve, combined with bending stress from the aluminum ventilation line to the valve nipple, may lead to cracking of the nipple. If this happens, a fuel leak may result. Dealers will reinforce the rollover valve nipple.

2003-2006 Chevrolet Express & 2003-2006 GMC Savana
Vehicles affected: 105

Certain full-size passenger, cargo and cutaway vans may have front and rear seatbelt buckles that will not latch or will not unlatch. Dealers will inspect the buckles and if they are found to be inoperative, the entire buckle assembly will be replaced. This is an expansion of recall 2005390.

2007-2008 Dodge Sprinter
Vehicles affected: 3
Certain Sprinter 3500 vehicles may have been assembled with a smaller brake fluid reservoir designed for use on the 2500 model, which does not match the 3500-certification documentation. Dealers will replace the reservoir.
