Top ten most ill conceived vehicles in automobile history
Aug 29, 2007
According to an online survey of nearly 2,500 car enthusiasts, the discontinued Pacer (for those who are unfamiliar – and I was one - was the “the mirthmobile” from the movie Wayne’s World) is the most ill conceived vehicle in automotive history. Survey respondents likened the Pacer to a “pregnant roller skate” that went “0 to 60 in 4 1/2 hours”.
Hagerty Insurance conducted the survey. They are the largest U.S. provider of insurance to classic-car collectors. The respondents were all policyholders with the company.
Without further ado, here is the top ten list:
1. AMC Pacer
2. Yugo
3. Ford Pinto
4. Pontiac Aztek
5. Chevrolet Vega
6. AMC Gremlin
7. Chevrolet Corvair
8. AMC Matador
9. Ford Edsel
10. Chevrolet Chevette
