Toyota Camry Hybrid named Canadian Car of the Year

The Toyota Camry Hybrid was named the "2007 Canadian Car of the Year" at the press preview for the Canadian International Auto Show this morning by AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada). The Camry Hybrid beat out the Honda Fit, Volkswagen Rabbit, Lexus ES350, Audi S8, MazdaSpeed3, Volkswagen Eos, and the BMW 3-Series Coupe for the honour.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid initially won the "Best New Family Car over $30,000" at AJAC's annual "Test Fest" last October where over 70 automotive journailsts tested virtualy every new vehic le over a three day period. The Camry Hyrid beat out the Kia Amanti, Nissan Maxima, Saturn Aura and Volkswagen Passat Wagon for that title before being voted the overall Canadian Car of the Year.
Since the Toyota Camry Hybrid went on sale in May, 2006, it has accounted for about 10 per cent of all Camrys sold in Canada.
