German automakers unite to offer Bluetec in the US
Oct 9, 2006
Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have formed an alliance and will begin equipping all their US diesel offerings with the Bluetec emissions treatment system. In doing so, they will set a standard for diesel offerings in the States, have a common, marketable brand and will have massive purchasing power over Bosch who creates most of the components necessary.
The automakers are expected to unveil several Blutec equipped vehicles at the Los Angeles auto show in December. Some Bluetec offerings in the coming months are VW Bluetec-powered Tiguan, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Mercedez R-, M- and GL-classes.
